A watch is a useful accessory though many people think it’s a little bit outdated as anyone can check the time at the screen of their mobile phones. Well, actually, not anyone… It’s pretty difficult to tell the time from the mobile phone screen if you are visually impaired. For many people who has problems with their vision their fingertips become their eyes. But what one can “see” touching a flat mobile phone screen? That’s why a Braille timepiece becomes a very useful accessory for the blind people.

Haptica is a Braille watch concept which, by function, enables the user to get a quick and accurate time reading while maintaining user discretion. Through form, Haptica elegantly negates the stigma of a disability while providing an intuitive ergonomic interface.
The design concept has received two international design awards for it’s beauty and innovation.
Haptica timepiece consists of four groups of four Braille dots which constitute numeric Braille cells. The time is displayed in military time format. A contoured canopy like surface creates an easily locatable channel where the time can be scanned with a finger. Each Braille dial rotates in or out of the channel according to the time which is being displayed. Braille dials and channel are incorporated into the watch case.
But the Haptica Braille watch can serve not only for the blind. Non-Braille literate people can quickly adapt to it by memorizing 10 easy Braille cells.

Hey There, this weblog seems funny and narrow when I open it using Opera. Nonetheless, it seems to be fine in IE. Does anyone else observe this?
