Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Moon Phase

Seiko Ananta Spring Drive Moon Phase

In 2010 the Ananta collection of timepieces by Seiko launched last year has been replenished with three new models: one equipped with the Moon phase function and two chronographs whose sides are curved like the traditional Japanese sword – katana – which actually inspired the designers to create this collection. The sharpness of the Japanese swords is also perceived in the pointed tips of the hands on the dials of the new Seiko watches.
The new Spring Drive Moon Phase watch by Seiko allows watching the moves of celestial bodies owing to the indicator placed at 4 o’clock. The silvery moon makes a beautiful contrast to the austere colour scheme of the timepiece.
The two new chronographs from the Seiko Ananta collection - Ananta Spring Drive Chronograph and Ananta Automatic Chronograph – differ in positions of counters and colours. Both models are made of light and durable titanium. Spring Drive Chronograph from the 150-pieces limited series allows measuring time periods with the accuracy that is five times higher than that of a mechanical chronograph.
The Ananta Automatic Chronograph with carbon dial is powered by the 8R movement featuring 45 hours of power reserve.

Seiko Future Now

Seiko Future Now

One of the brightest concepts was presented at BaselWorld 2010 by the watchmaking company Seiko that unveiled an improved project Future Now. The quality of images at the dial of the new Seiko concept watch can be compared to that of a print of a high quality laser printer.
The new timepiece is equipped with an “Ink matrix” with an angle of 180 degrees. The E-Ink or EPD watch (Electrophoretic Display) was first introduced in Autumn 2006 – and then they provoked big interest and got the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève prize. The display of the watch features 80,000 pixels with each able to show four different shades of grey and 300 dots per inch.
In course of time this technology was widely applied and got the high praise from the customers owing to the growing popularity of electronic books. Today Seiko actively uses this amazing technology to create watches with wide range of functions and high quality of images on the display.
The battery can serve about a year which is a considerably long term for such a model. Besides, the watch boasts significant preservation of energy that allows not recharging it for quite a long time.
